School officials delighted as county-wide outbreak of Winter Vomiting bug sets class sizes back to ‘safe levels’
There was heartwarming festive news for local teachers and education bosses last night.
A virulent outbreak of the Norovirus pathogen has meant that up to 60% of children were unable to attend school this week, returning class sizes to ‘something approaching optimum levels’ for effective learning.
Over the last decade, the average pupil / teacher ratio had crept up to well over 35 students per teacher. But the well timed Norovirus epidemic means that the Conservative Government are on course to hit target ratios within just days of coming to power.
